The trio of Taapsee Pannu as the scheming Rani, Vikrant Massey who valiantly stays the course for his one true love, and Sunny Kaushal as 'mar-mitne-wala-aashiq', are all spot on.

This movie is the personification of the “they had us in the first half” meme—a promising start that utterly falls apart in trying to tie all of the loose ends together.

As a series, the Hasseen Dillruba films work tolerably well in tandem, but as a standalone movie, Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba turns out to be an average fare.

Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba is a pale reprisal in comparison, that hovers over the fences instead of swinging for them. It inherits the framework of the original but robs off the soul, reducing the outing to a clumsy guessing exercise with no heart.
