The dialogue is woeful, the acting (mostly) a hamfest and the plot feels like a nuisance foisted upon French writer-director Sebastien Vanicek between bouts of dreaming up fresh ways to brutalise the human body.

The movie works better than its predecessor. It also feels more like Vaniček is fine-tuning an entirely different formula than what powers the original trilogy.

It looks like an Evil Dead entry about as much as, say, the Kansas City Chiefs look like a baseball team — that is to say, not much at all.
