Troublesome Creek: A Midwestern

The images of the land... exert a nostalgic tug for a Norman Rockwell dream of which this family, in better days, seemed to have found a piece.

The underlying lesson is clear: Our state and federal farm policies do not really allow for family farms anymore.

Anybody with a feeling for the rural Midwest will find this visually engaging documentary a bittersweet reminder of how family farming, once a pillar of American life, is slowly vanishing.

A deeply personal docu about the loss of a farm, the film premiered at Sudance Film Festival where it won major awards. Amazingly similar in plot and events to the Jessica Lange farm feature Country, it deseved serious Oscar considerations.
