A spirited cast elevates the contrived premise in this otherwise uninspired romantic comedy that follows a familiar template in the final act.

A slapdash and self-aware rom-com

40 Dates and 40 Nights has that warm, comforting feel of a familiar story you’ve seen countless times but still love watching, on a couch, with a glass of wine, snuggled up in the covers or in the arms of a loved one.

A familiar conceit with likable characters leads to a frothy but predictable romcom.
