Fearing regret and desperate to keep hold of their history, the five sons of a small-town Minnesota matriarch must reconcile her getting on in years. Meanwhile, for her three grandsons who own and operate a funeral home, death cannot be run from.
While very slow at times, the documentary offers a thoughtful look at legacy, the strange coexistence of daily routine and grief, and the way families circle around big, uncomfortable truths.

Ultimately, The LeMieurs is a deeply personal portrait of a beloved family member, perhaps the director’s own way of processing his grandmother’s death.
