The Dunblane Tapes

There is something about home video tapes, the unfiltered, honest capturing of a moment in time, that punches the gut in a different way.

The documentary to mark the event’s anniversary, The Dunblane Tapes, retells the story as quietly and unsensationally as you would hope.

The grief and shock of parents, as news cameras arrived in the hours after the shooting, is still unbearable to watch, 30 years on.

Will Stone’s deeply moving documentary, which features the testimonies of many other bereaved parents, does just enough to remind us of the horror of that day, without dwelling on it.
