All Mixtape can muster is a dull roar.

[This is] an forgettable tune in an otherwise interesting set list.

Even as the “V/H/S” installments themselves remain fresh, the mat they fit feels progressively nostalgic. That’s an awkward position for a property whose modern reputation was made on cutting-edge discovery.

The VHS franchise follow up their best ever instalment (Halloween) with maybe their worst. Fantastic gore and creature design as always, but this music-themed anthology is never scary enough or funny enough.
