Storyline

Eloy de Palma is an exorcist pastor roaming the darkest corners of the country with his granddaughter Alba. Their mission is to help those possessed by The Evil One, an infection of the soul that is spreading fast. Each exorcism is tougher than the one before, and every battle reveals a piece of Alba’s forgotten past – an enigma that if unconcealed could change the world as we know it.

The devil is in the details of a deftly ambiguous screenplay (by Carret and Mike Hostench) that carefully withholds as much as it reveals.

If the twisty finale underwhelms, Mr. Carret's enigmatic style and textured images offer their own doomy rewards.

RTVillage VoiceSep 23, 2014

Is it possible to be decidedly unsubtle and also maddeningly opaque? Marc Carret's exorcism film Asmodexia threads that infuriating needle.

RTWe Got This CoveredSep 22, 2014

Asmodexia isn't exactly a biblical epic, but a rejuvenating finish brings meaning to a movie that otherwise would seem minimalistic and generic - finding a savior in the nick of time.
