Storyline

SAINT MISBEHAVIN’ reveals the true story of cultural phenomenon Wavy Gravy, a man whose commitment to making the world a better place has never wavered. Wavy Gravy is known as the MC of the Woodstock Festival, a hippie icon, a clown and even a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor. In Saint Misbehavin’ we meet a true servant to humanity, who carries his message through humor and compassion. The film weaves together intimate verite footage, reflections from an array of cultural and countercultural peers, and never-before-seen archival footage to tell a story that is bigger than the man himself.

Gary Goldstein

Esrick has crafted an affectionate portrait of a man whose eclectic, ebullient life has been devoted to peace, love and understanding - an eternal hippie who has "walked the walk" since he burst onto the Greenwich Village "Beat" scene in the late 1950s.

Perfunctory, bowdlerized, and intermittently condescending, Saint Misbehavin' has all the biographical trenchancy of a fundraiser infomercial.

Frank Scheck

RTThe Hollywood ReporterDec 10, 2010

As freewheeling and irreverent as the man himself, Saint Misbehavin' is that rare documentary whose flaws seem appropriate for its subject matter.

Saint Misbehavin': The Wavy Gravy Movie is a celebration and something of a scrapbook too, a collection of memories without much in the way of questions.
