Adam

Though 2006 might not seem too far removed from our present, in terms of LGBTQ visibility the distance between then and now is considerable. "Adam" reminds us how much, thankfully, society has slowly changed and yet how far we still are from real change.

Adam may not be above reproach, but its good intentions are infectious.

Ernst doesn't feel a moral obligation to only depict behavior onscreen that he endorses, and neither should any filmmaker, for that matter. Such limitations are the antithesis of art.

Arriving following the backlash transgender drama Girl received upon general release earlier in the year, Adam is a great argument for letting trans people tell their stories.
