A quietly engrossing use of the documentary form to probe issues seemingly passed from one generation to another, leaving children both fatherless and oft-inclined to repeat that missing person's errors.

... At times, brilliant. But Comala lacks an adventurous spirit, longer wings, and hungers for more. [Full review in Spanish]

Comala is a fascinating, emotive and very intimate documentary that explores the ghosts, secrets and generational patterns of a Mexican family. [Full Review in Spanish]

What starts as a promising narrative diverts itself into a home video montage of this family with little sprinkles about the hitman. Towards the end of the movie, the interviews felt overly acted leaving me disappointed.
