Romeos

There's poignancy in Lukas' late-night English Internet chats with comrades in transition, and growing doubts that he can earn his new body without losing his mind and old friends.

While this film strives to tell an important story, and does get points for being one of the few films out there about a trans-man who gets a happy ending, it is mired in unlikable characters who run the gamut of stereotypes.

What Bernardi has achieved is a frank, shrewd, well-written and very well performed film that incorporates prominent, under-explored transgender and LGBT themes that challenges preconceived notions and ideas.
