Maine

Where "Maine" ultimately goes is a little off the map, but the mysterious emotional journey is nevertheless fascinating.

When given something to do or say of any relevance, Costa and Mann make great movie moments. It is just that Brown failed to give them a clear path to follow.

As an immersion in the physical world and a very particular form of public solitude, Maine delivers.

Unfortunately, the film doesn't give enough for the viewer to feel a connection, so there is no investment on our part, just mere detachment and a "Oh, she's back where she started," before the embracing of a blank screen.
