Peter Doherty: Stranger In My Own Skin

Though it captures a vivid sense of Doherty’s struggles... this film does not stop to examine the issues with music industry figures who presumably pushed him to continue writing and touring, nor the apparent lack of support.

Clearly, this is one for fans, and what it gains in intimacy, it loses in objectivity and perspective.

The line between "tender" and "indulgent" is repeatedly crossed in this intimate documentary about the former Libertines frontman Pete "now Peter" Doherty, made by his wife, the film-maker Katia de Vidas.

This is an intimate portrait of a man whose rock 'n' roll lifestyle came close to killing him. And while it is unavoidably tinged with sadness, it's also not without hope for its subject.
