Like the first movie, this has some cute gags but collapses like a soggy paper plate, never deciding whether to mock or celebrate the heroine’s shallow materialism.

This time, Elle's improbable triumphs really are implausible--and way unfunny...as adroit and charming as Witherspoon is--and she gives it her all--she cannot rise above the embarrassingly broad, witless material.

Not as good as the first, but still enjoyable.

Unfortunately, the sequel is a pale-pastel imitation of the original. Director Charles Herman-Wurmfeld struggles to regain the kooky magic of the original, as the fish-out-of-water scenario wears thin.
