I Really Love My Husband

GG Hawkins’s debut has a refreshingly fluid approach to sexuality, but it sadly lacks humor and a sharp point-of-view towards domestic incompatibility.

Starts out as a flirty fun 'n' games sex comedy, then slowly morphs into something deeper and darker, asking if we unwittingly try our hardest to undermine the thing we most wanted in life.

For a debut, Hawkins is confident in her tone, tossing in catchy dialogue-based running gags such as Teresa’s repeated declaration that she’s fasting ... and Paz’s cool statement that they operate at the "speed of nature" (a hilariously empty statement).

It’s not a movie about falling out of love or a scandalous affair; it’s about the dissonance between expectation and reality, the human tendency to perform happiness while ignoring what we truly feel.
